One Month Countdown to Bahrain 2024: ISF Task Force Joins LOC On-Site for Final Sprint
Sep. 25, Manama, Bahrain — With only one month to go until the ISF Gymnasiade – Bahrain 2024, the ISF has deployed a four-member task force to Bahrain to work hand in hand with the local organising committee (LOC) during the final phase of event preparations.
According to the latest published Bulletin 2 (ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024 Bulletin 2), nearly 3,700 school athletes have already registered for Bahrain 2024, with the total number of participants, including coaches and officials, exceeding 5,300. This makes it the largest international school sports event in the ISF’s over-50-year history, with 26 sports setting a new ISF record.
Among the 71 delegations, the host nation Bahrain will field the largest team with over 400 participants. Brazil and Saudi Arabia will send delegations of more than 300, while five other countries and regions, including Azerbaijan, will have over 200 participants each.
The scale of the event has posed significant operational challenges, prompting closer collaboration between the ISF and the Bahrain LOC. The ISF task force, comprising Sport Director Saurabh Mishra, Event Director Uroš Savic, Education Director Romain Fermon, and Communications and Marketing Director Yuan Ren, will spend three days in Bahrain conducting comprehensive site inspections of competition facilities and venues for educational and cultural activities. They also work closely with various departments of the Bahrain LOC to finalise the operational plans, ensuring the smooth delivery of the event.
