ISF Sport events
As the global governing body for international school sport, the International School Sport Federation (ISF) annually organizes 4 to 7 prestigious sporting events across the world.
Among them, the most influential is the Gymnasiade – The International School Games. Established in 1974, the Gymnasiade has evolved into a premier multi-sport event featuring over 20 disciplines and welcoming approximately 4,000 participants.
Recognizing the rapid physical development of young athletes during adolescence, ISF introduced the U15 Gymnasiade in 2021. Since then, the Gymnasiade has been structured as a biennial event: the U18 Gymnasiade is held in even-numbered years, while the U15 Gymnasiade takes place in odd-numbered years. This initiative has expanded opportunities for student-athletes worldwide to compete at an elite level and foster international connections among their peers.
In addition to multi-sport events, ISF organizes ISF World School Championships (WSC) and ISF World Cups. These events primarily focus on team sports such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, etc.. The origins of WSC trace back to 1972, when ISF first hosted international school football and volleyball championships.
Over the decades, WSC and its evolved format, the ISF World Cup, have become highly anticipated global sporting events, bringing together the best school athletes from across the world to showcase their talent and passion for sport.
