ISF Welcomes the Mayor of Dalian to the Lausanne Office
Jan 22, Lausanne, Switzerland – The International School Sport Federation (ISF) hosted Chen Shaowang, Mayor of Dalian Municipal People’s Government, along with Tang Yi, Secretary General of Dalian Municipal People's Government, Ju Zhenwei, Director General of Dalian Education Bureau. The ISF team was led by Hasnae El Ayoubi, Executive Director of ISF.
During the meeting, both sides reflected on the successful collaboration between ISF and the Local Organizing Committee in delivering the first-ever ISF Football World Cup in Dalian 2024, which saw the participation of 36 boys’ teams and 19 girls’ teams, with over 1,000 local volunteers, and a variety of cultural activities. The event was a resounding success, helping to promote Dalian as an international sport city and a global hub for school sports. The mayor praised that the event not only highlighted Dalian’s commitment to sports but also boosted its image on the global stage, fostering greater international engagement.
ISF took the opportunity to share details about the Federation’s wide array of programs designed to support global school athletes and enhance the impact of school sports worldwide. ISF presented its event structure and its upcoming events, some of which include the ISF U15 Gymnasiade – Zlatibor, Serbia 2025, ISF World School Golf Championship – Morocco 2025. The ISF’s core values—such as clean sport, educational quality, gender equality, and more—were also highlighted. The mayor was particularly interested in raising the visibility of host cities and countries, providing valuable exposure through ISF’s extensive international network.
The conversation concluded with a forward-looking discussion about potential future collaborations beyond football. Both the Dalian delegation and ISF officials expressed a shared vision of expanding the reach of school sports, further connecting Dalian to an international audience of student-athletes. Both sides are committed to strengthening and diversifying their partnership in the coming years, exploring new areas for cooperation and mutual benefit.
This visit further solidifies the friendship between ISF and Dalian, and both parties are excited about the ongoing and future opportunities in the world of school sports.
