ISF Gymnasiade Normandy 2022 Preparations in Full Flow
On Monday 31st January 2022 an ISF Delegation arrived in Normandy to conduct an inspection visit in cooperation with the Local Organising Committee of ISF member the ‘Union Nationale du Sport Scolaire’ (UNSS), as all preparations continue to rapidly advance. Taking place throughout the entire week, the visit presents the opportunity for a number of meetings and site visits to be held with the purpose of discussing all sport specific preparations required for each of the 20 sport competitions. This will include visits to each of the 9 host cities of Caen, Deauville, Écouves, Granville, Le Havre, Montivilliers, Pont-Audemer, Rouen, and Val-de-Reuil.
The first location on the list of sites to be visited this week, was in the city of Deauville at the Deauville International Centre (CID), which will play host to the Fun & Skills Zone throughout the whole event, as well as being the location for the School Sport Forum that will take place on the 18th May. In addition to these events, the sport programme will see Badminton, Beach Volleyball, as well as some Orienteering activities also take place around the city of Deauville.
As the largest international multi-sport event for 16-18 year old school students, the 19th ISF Gymnasiade will welcome more than 3500 participants from over 70 countries to compete in 20 different sports, including 3 para sports, a first in ISF history. Alongside this extensive sport programme, participants will engage in cultural and educational activities, all of which will take place across nine cities throughout the region of Normandy.
