Bahrain to Host Asian Youth Games 2025, Building on ISF Gymnasiade Success
Dec. 3, Lausanne, Switzerland – The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has officially announced Bahrain as the new host of the 2025 Asian Youth Games after Uzbekistan's withdrawal due to financial and logistical challenges. The decision comes as a testament to Bahrain's growing capabilities in organising major international sporting events, underscored by the successful hosting of the ISF Gymnasiade in 2024.
The ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024 was a landmark event, attracting over 3,500 student-athletes from 67 countries and regions across 26 sports, including 4 para sports. The competition showcased exceptional organisational standards, state-of-the-art facilities, and a welcoming environment for young athletes, elevating Bahrain's profile on the global stage. The event not only enhanced the nation's experience in hosting large-scale sport events but also set a benchmark for future competitions.
Bahrain's selection to host the Asian Youth Games further demonstrates the impact of the Gymnasiade. By successfully organising this prestigious school sport competition, Bahrain has proven its capability to handle the complexities of international multi-sport events. The Asian Youth Games, which will bring together thousands of young athletes from across the continent, are expected to further strengthen Bahrain's reputation as a regional sports hub.
This transition reflects the broader goals of the ISF and its commitment to fostering youth sports development worldwide. The collaboration between ISF and Bahrain has not only benefited the athletes but has also created lasting opportunities for cultural exchange and international partnerships.
