ISF AND WORLD TAEKWONDO SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
Collaboration between ISF and World Taekwondo (WT) established, further supporting the development of Taekwondo in the world of School Sport.
MANCHESTER, UK (Oct 21, 2022) - On Friday, 21st of October, World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue and Secretary General Jeongkang Seo hosted ISF President Laurent Petrynka who was accompanied by ISF Continental President for the Americas, Jose Martin Sanchez Tenorio in Manchester during the Manchester 2022 World Taekwondo Grand-Prix for the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two federations.
With this newly established cooperation, the overall goal is to further encourage and develop the sport of Taekwondo and its use as an educational tool for youth. This MoU will bring about the increased promotion of Taekwondo within schools and school sport events, both at national and international level, creating increased awareness about the sport and bringing more youth to the sport from an early age, through improved cooperation and communication with local authorities.

In recent years the sport of Taekwondo has taken tremendous steps in school sport, with it becoming a staple of ISF multi-sport events such as the 2021 U15 Gymnasiade in Serbia, and the 2022 U18 Gymnasiade in France. In 2023, we are proud to be hosting two more Taekwondo events, with the ISF World School Taekwondo Championship in Mexico next June, and the next edition of the ISF U15 Gymnasiade later on in August 2023.” – ISF President Laurent Petrynka

ISF 2023 Competition Programme Organising Taekwondo Events with the World School Taekwondo Championship in Mazatlán, Mexico & ISF U15 Gymnasiade in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The 2023 ISF event calendar will see the sport of taekwondo be held twice, with the city of Mazatlán in Mexico hosting the ISF World School Taekwondo Championship from 27th of June to 3rd of July, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil hosting the 2nd edition of the ISF U15 Gymnasiade from the 19th to 27th September. The ISF members hosting these events, the Mexican School Sport Federation (FEMEDEES) and the Brazilian School Sport Federation (CBDE) are in the process of preparing all event logistics at the highest level, ready to welcome school students from around the world, further demonstrating their strong dedication to school sport at the international level, being some of the most active members in ISF events.
For the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between ISF and World Taekwondo in Manchester, England, FEMEDEES President and ISF Continental President for America Jose Martin Sanchez Tenorio accompanied ISF President Laurent Petrynka during this important step in the development of Taekwondo in the world of school sport.
