Key player in the UAE sport society; United Arab Emirates School Sport Association
School Sport has an important role in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). UAE School Sport Association is known as an effective (athlete development) player in the UAE sport society.
UAE national sport associations regularly cooperate with School Sport Association and Mr. Ahmad Abdulrahman Ali, its Secretary General, with an aim of organizing youth competitions and leagues as well as workshops for teachers and coaches.
All UAE School Sport Association sport events are organised in liaise with ISF yearly schedule. National Schools championships are scheduled before the ISF Worlds in order to select the national team (school) which later represents the UAE on the world stage.
Its goal is also to increase the participation of UAE school athletes at ISF and Asian sport championships and other events.
School Olympics is one of the major projects currently being developed in the UAE.
The initiative is a joint project of Ministry of Education and the UAE National Olympic Committee. Its goal is to scout and train the talented students in the individual sports of athletics, archery, fencing, swimming, judo, taekwondo and badminton. The scouted students are later given an opportunity to participate at the national and international-level competitions.
Delegation from UAE also participated at the 2018 Gymnasiade in Morocco. ISF talked to their athletes, performing and winning medals in the archery, on topics of gender equality, Muslim girls and sport, and representing the team UAE.
