ISF Participates in Global Conference on Physical Education Transformation

Dec 18, Astana, Kazakhstan – The International School Sport Federation (ISF) participated in the international scientific and practical conference titled "Transformation of the Conceptual Foundations of Physical Education in Educational Organizations", held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Hosted at the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine and supported by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the conference convened a distinguished audience of global experts, educators, academic leaders, and professionals in the field of physical education and sports.

ISF participated in the conference together with other key international partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO), and the UNESCO representative offices in Kazakhstan.

ISF Acting President Youssef Belqasmi addressed participants, emphasizing the importance of a global approach to physical education and Kazakhstan's role as an active participant in international sports initiatives.

He highlighted that physical education is a key factor in forming healthy and harmonious generations and called for joint efforts to create conditions where sports become an integral part of every child's life.

The ISF’s active participation highlights its role as a catalyst for international cooperation and innovation in school sports, contributing to the vision of building healthier, more harmonious generations.

The conference aimed to address the evolution of physical education in educational systems worldwide, with discussions focusing on:

  • Developing strategies to integrate physical activity as a foundation for healthy lifestyles in schools;
  • Sharing global best practices to promote physical culture and mass sports;
  • Modernizing physical education systems in alignment with international standards.

The two-day program featured:

  • Thematic Seminars: Interactive discussions on modern methodologies in physical education;
  • Masterclasses: Hands-on sessions led by renowned athletes and coaches;
  • Exhibitions: Showcasing innovative technologies and achievements in sports and physical culture.

The conference provided a unique platform for dialogue, with participants exchanging insights on improving sports accessibility and motivating students to embrace physical activity.

The event concluded with the adoption of a resolution outlining key recommendations, including:

  • Revising physical education curricula to meet international standards;
  • Expanding sports infrastructure for equitable access;
  • Enhancing teacher training with innovative methodologies;
  • Encouraging community engagement in mass sports initiatives;
  • Promoting healthy lifestyles among youth through targeted campaigns.

This collaborative effort reaffirmed the critical role of physical education in fostering sustainable development and well-being. The recommendations are expected to shape future reforms in physical education, both in Kazakhstan and globally.
