Shangluo City Officially Bids to Host ISF World School Volleyball Championships
Apr. 9, Zlatibor, Serbia – During the ISF Executive Committee meeting in Zlatibor, Serbia, presided over by newly elected ISF President Mr. Zeljko Tanaskovic, a delegation from Shangluo City, led by Vice Mayor Wen Lin, formally presented their bid to host the ISF World School Volleyball Championships. The proposal includes hosting both U15 and U18 categories in alternating years over a four-year period.
In her presentation, Vice Mayor Wen highlighted Shangluo's rich history dating back to the Paleolithic era, its cultural heritage, and recent modernization efforts. She emphasized the city's experience in hosting national and international volleyball events, including the 2024 FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships. Ms. Wen also detailed the city's infrastructure, including volleyball venues and star-rated hotels, and outlined Shangluo's strategic plan to become a "City of Volleyball."
The bid is a joint initiative between the Shangluo Municipal Government and the China Student Sports Federation (CSSF), one of ISF's most active member organizations. CSSF has pledged substantial support for the bid, drawing on its experience in organizing ISF events, such as the successful hosting of the ISF Football World Cup in Dalian last year.
Following the Executive Committee meeting, the Shangluo delegation and CSSF representatives held discussions with ISF leadership, including the President, Vice Presidents, key department heads, and Boris Savez, Secretary General of the Serbian School Sport Federation. The parties exchanged information on ISF's event requirements, bid evaluation procedures, and potential timelines.
Shangluo's commitment to developing its sports infrastructure and hosting international events underscores its ambition to become a hub for school sports and volleyball, aligning with ISF's mission to promote youth development through sport and education. ISF will proceed to review Shangluo's bid documents and organize an on-site inspection to assess the city's readiness and capabilities.
