Empowering PE in Bahrain’s Game-Changing Sports Education Workshop
Oct 28, Manama, Bahrain – Today marked the penultimate day of a dynamic series of Physical Education (PE) teacher workshops in Bahrain, an initiative held in conjunction with the ISF Sports Gymnasiade 2024. The program, designed to empower PE teachers with innovative approaches to youth sports, has brought together experts from global sporting federations to lead immersive sessions for educators.
The day’s first session was led by Dr. Nabeel Taha Al Shehab, a respected figure from the International Handball Federation. Dr. Al Shehab’s session provided attendees with key principles for effectively teaching handball in school settings. Through interactive activities, PE teachers had the opportunity to experiment with lesson strategies, collaborate, and even deliver activities to their peers, fostering a hands-on learning environment.
The second session, directed by Amir Borghei from the International Tennis Federation, began with a theoretical overview before moving to the courts at the Bahrain Tennis Federation. Here, teachers engaged in a series of engaging, youth-centered tennis activities, designed to inspire a love for the sport in young people. These games not only emphasised skill-building but also showcased ways to make tennis accessible and enjoyable for students of all levels.
The workshop series will conclude tomorrow with a fencing session led by experts from the FIE, followed by a presentation ceremony to commemorate the week-long program.
