Countdown to Tip-Off: ISF World School Basketball Championship 2024 Set to Energize Macao, China

Jun. 19, Macao, China - With just five days remaining until the opening ceremony, anticipation is mounting as the city of Macao, China gears up for the highly anticipated ISF World School Basketball Championship 2024, scheduled from June 23 to July 3. This global event will unite 37 teams from 20 countries/regions and nearly 600 student-athletes, converging to celebrate talent, sportsmanship, and vibrant cultural exchange.

This year’s ISF WSC Basketball is co-hosted by the University of Macau and the Macau-China Basketball Association, and sponsored by Melco Resorts & Entertainment, with the local Sports Bureau providing venue support, Li Ning (China) Sports Goods Co. Ltd sponsoring athletic apparel and footwear, and China Telecom (Macau) Company Ltd and Nam Yue Luen Fung Trading Company Ltd providing in-kind support.

Over 8 days, 117 matches will unfold at Macao's premier sports venues: the Sports Complex of the University of Macau, the Mong-Ha Sports Centre, and the iconic Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion.

Local excitement is palpable as Macao boys’ and girls’ school teams are ready to represent their city against international competitors, showcasing Macao's sporting prowess and hospitality on a prestigious global stage. The pool phase will run from June 24 to 28, followed by the ranking phase concluding on July 2.

In preparation for the championship, the ISF emphasizes the vital role of sports in education, providing young athletes with a platform not only to compete but also to engage in meaningful cultural exchange. Alongside the grand intercultural interaction opportunity, educational workshops focusing on safeguarding children in sport and anti-doping in sport will enrich the experience.

Competition on 3 courts will be livestreamed globally on ISF TV, offering audiences worldwide the opportunity to witness the resilience and skill displayed by global talented young athletes. The competition venues will also be open to the public, inviting both local residents and international visitors to experience the thrill of live basketball action firsthand.
