Moroccan National School Sport Team Triumphs at Arab School Football Championship
Morocco proudly showcased its talent on the international stage as the national school sport teams participated in the Arab School Football Championship held in Cairo, Egypt, from November 17 to 27. The competition featured both male and female U15 (born in 2008 and 2009) school football teams.
Prior to the championship, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Federation of School Sport (FRMSS), organized a preparatory camp. The male team honed their tactics at the Royal Institute for the Training of Executives of Youth and Sports, while the female team gathered at the Mohammed VI center.
Carefully selected from the top four teams in the national school football championship for the 2022/2023 season, the best U15 national players embarked on a journey to Cairo on November 17 to compete against 11 countries in the championship.
While the boys’ team faced a setback midway through the competition with a defeat against Oman and Lebanon, the girls’ team won a string of victories and climbed to the top of the championship with the cup in hand.
The efforts of both teams and the triumph of the girls were acknowledged and celebrated by Abdessalam Mili, Director of Promotion of School Sport and Delegate President of the FRMSS, in a triumphant reception at Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport.
Morocco, dedicated to the development of school sports, showcased an impeccable level of skill in school football in 2023. Following the Moroccan U16 team's achievement as the runner-up in the ISF World School Football Championship in July in Rabat, the spotlight shifted to the U15 national girls' team, which shone brightly at the Arab School Football Championship in Egypt. The nation looks forward with optimism to future championships, anticipating continued success on the international stage.
