ISF Football World Cup - China 2024 Concludes Successfully in Dalian
May 28, Dalian, China - The 2024 ISF Football World Cup concluded triumphantly on May 26 in Dalian, China. In the finals, the Chinese Girls' Team 2 won the girls' championship by defeating Kenya 6-4 in a penalty shootout. The Chinese Boys' Team 1 drew 2-2 with Uganda during regular time and secured a 7-5 victory in the penalty shootout to clinch the boys' championship.
The closing ceremony, held at the Suoyuwan Football Stadium, featured the singing of "I Am in Dalian" and "Auld Lang Syne," symbolizing the culmination of a historic event that carried the dreams of school football players worldwide and paved the way for a new era in international school sports. The ceremony also included the awarding ceremony of individual awards and the fair play award.
Wang Jiayi, Executive Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Vice Minister of Education of China, delivered a speech, emphasizing the collaborative efforts and commitment to excellence that brought the event to fruition. ISF President and IOC Education Commission Member Laurent Petrynka also addressed the attendees, congratulating the champions and acknowledging the successful execution of the event.
Wang Jiayi highlighted the dedication and meticulous planning that ensured the event's success, stating, "Under the high attention and care of President Xi Jinping, and through the diligent efforts of the Ministry of Education, Liaoning Province, and Dalian City, we have fulfilled our promise to host an unparalleled school football World Cup. This event has become a reality, showcasing a celebration of youth, unity, and friendship, and contributing significantly to the development of international school sports."
Laurent Petrynka appreciated the enthuiasm, energy and commitment brought all the school athlets and teachers and coaches. He also praised the exceptional organization and hospitality, saying, "We are deeply grateful to the China School Sport Federation, Dalian City, the Chinese national government and the local government of Liaoning Province, for hosting this remarkable Football World Cup."

During the flag handover ceremony, Ji Jing, Vice Mayor of Suzhou city, received the ISF flag from Laurent Petrynka. This marked the beginning of the "Suzhou time" for the ISF Football World Cup, with the city of Suzhou set to host this next edition of this top-level international school football event in two years.
