Nepal School Sports Federation: Ongoing National Development
Mar 4, Lausanne, Switzerland - The Nepal School Sports Federation (NSSF) continues to evolve and expand school sports at the national level. In recent months, NSSF has made significant progress in the sports landscape across schools in Nepal and establishing new partnerships that highlight the growing importance of school sports within the country’s educational framework.
NSSF has signed several key MoUs with prominent national organizations to foster the development of school sports in Nepal:
- Nepal Breaking & Dance Sports Association (NBDSA): The MoU between NSSF and NBDSA focuses on the promotion and expansion of dance sports, including breaking, at both the national and global levels. This agreement allows NSSF and NBDSA to collaborate on attracting and retaining school-age dance sports enthusiasts, hopefully preparing more students to compete in future ISF events.
- Nepal Wushu Federation (NWF): In a similar vein, NSSF has partnered with NWF to promote Wushu in schools across Nepal. Wushu not only enhances physical strength, flexibility, and coordination but also instils discipline, focus, and resilience in young athletes. This MoU aims to support Wushu’s development among school athletes, covering aspects such as event bidding, infrastructure, training, governance, and promotional activities.
- Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association (NSSA): Through this MoU, NSSF and NSSA will work together to increase school-age participation in skating and skateboarding. The collaboration covers a wide range of initiatives, including the development of infrastructure, training programs, competitions, and the promotion of these sports within the school sports system.
- National Entity Esports Association of Nepal (ESAN): Another important milestone for NSSF is its partnership with the National Entity Esports Association of Nepal (ESAN), which just hosted the 2025 Esports National Championship. This event saw over 10,000 contestants competing at the district and provincial levels in six esports categories.
Over the past year, NSSF has forged partnerships with multiple national sports federations, strengthening the foundation for school sports development in Nepal. Such institutional cooperation is set to have a positive and lasting impact, paving the way for a series of regional and national school sports events and educational initiatives. These efforts will not only expand the reach of student sports across the country but also enhance the competitive level of Nepalese student-athletes, ultimately providing them with greater opportunities to participate in prestigious international events such as the ISF Gymnasiade and ISF World School Championships.
