As one of the compulsory sports in the ISF Gymnasiade event, Judo has a great deal of educational potential, and is a sport for all, no matter the level. This new initiative launched in 2020 by the European Judo Union in cooperation with ISF, aims to develop and establish a successful programme for school children in countries around Europe, currently involving 12 countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Latvia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland. The goal of the project is the promote sport through education and provide an opportunity for children to receive further training, as an important part to their personal development, both in and out of sport.
Through this project, European Judo federations will create National School Leagues, and from which will produce the best teams from each region. Then the schools that were successful at these national level events, will then continue on to eventually participate in the European Judo Schools League Finals.
