At the Executive Committee meeting in Zagreb, Croatia, held from 28-30 November 2019, Mexican School Sport Federation (FEMEDEES) officially became an ISF member.
The membership was signed between the ISF President Mr. Laurent Petrynka and ISF Secretary General / CEO Mr. Hrvoje Custonja, and FEMEDEES President Mr. Jose Martin Sanchez Tenerio.
FEMEDEES is a national organization with a social function and commitment to the school sports community, supported by the CONADE (National Sports Commission), SEP (Secretary of Public Education), COM (Mexican Olympic Committee) and CONDEBA (The National Council for the Development of Physical Education and Sports in the Basic education).
The Mexican School Sports Federation began as an initiative to strengthen the recognition of sport and physical activity in general education (school system). Since the beginnings, it has supported the youth from all states of the country and contributed to the development of their health, wellbeing, physical education and social skills. FEMEDEES covers 14 different sports and targets school youth between the ages of 10 to 18. The school sport network of Mexico and their most notable event - the School Games (all stages of the event), are estimated to include roughly 7.5 million of students.
The federation's goal is to channel the organization of school sports with an inclusive development plans and programs that contribute to the improvement of opportunities for the young athletes and therefore, are raising the country's sporting level.
