Following the official start of the collaboration with AIBA, the ISF achieved a new milestone by signing a MoU with the prestigious United World Wrestling. Indeed, ISF President -Mr Laurent Petrynka and United World Wrestling President - Mr Nenad Lalovic has signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The signature took place the 25th of August 2017 in Paris (AccorHotels Arena), at the occasion of the World Wrestling Championship.
This meeting has been supported by severals important figures of the international sport movement such as Mr Jean Philippe Gatien and Mr Thierry Rey from Paris 2024, Mr Denis Masseglia – President of the NOC France, Mr Alain Bertholom President of the French Wrestling Federation and Mr Božidar Maljković – President of the NOC Serbia.

As part of the School Sport DNA, wrestling is included in the ISF Combat Games (which took place for the 1st time in Agra, India from 7th to 14th of July 2017) and in the Summer Gymnasiade (High Schools Summer Games). « We are glad that the implementation of this cooperation will start during the next 2018 Gymnasiade in Marrakesh (Morocco) from 2nd to 9th of May 2018 » said ISF President.
Mr Petrynka stressed that this cooperation with an other Olympic Federation is aligned with the ISF Vision 2030, which aims to develop cooperation with all the sports and education stakeholders from international to the national level in order to support the school sport development. The cooperation will also lead to the harmonisation of calendars, facilitation of the communication between Wrestling National Federations and ISF members in order to bring as many countries and schools as possible to future ISF events.
