On Thursday, 3 December 2020, ISF president Laurent Petrynka participated in the first Congress of Physical Education and Sport, held online and organised by the General Directorate of Culture and Education of the Province of Buenos Aires.
The main topic of the congress was “school sport on international stage”. ISF members from South America participated in the event with an aim to share knowledge and opinions related to Physical Education, sports and their involvement in the field.
Mr Petrynka welcomed the participants and highlighted the innovative approach School Sport Federation of Argentina used to keep youngsters active during 2020. He also emphasised that despite 2020 being a challenging year, ISF is staying positive and is looking forward to 2021.
“Our main events will start in spring 2021 and we hope to re-launch the participation. Our preparation for the ISF events with the LOC is successfully underway. I would like to emphasize the great preparation of the 18th ISF Gymnasiade Jinjiang 2020, China. We hope to see countries from South America, and countries attending the congress today, in Jinjiang, participating in the 18th ISF Gymnasiade Jinjiang 2020.”
The congress began with a welcoming speech from the president of the School Sport Federation of Argentina Mr Leo Troncoso who introduced the main points of discussions and guests participating in the congress. He also stated that the congress was an opportunity to connect and deepen the knowledge on current approach to Physical Education with the aim of prioritizing it, and revaluing sport as a right of everyone.
