The 23 June marks the celebration of Olympic Day; a day that brings people together through the power of sport, health, and Olympism. Based on the three pillars of “move”, “learn” and “discover”, National Olympic Committees are deploying sports, cultural, and educational activities designed for all; regardless of age, gender, social background, or sporting ability.
The ISF celebrates the Olympic Day by highlighting the importance of uniting the Olympic movement and schools under the common goal of educating youth about the values of health, inclusion, mutual understanding, fair play and friendship, with the help of the three Olympic values - excellence, respect and friendship, which are displayed through school sport and ISF events.
ISF President and IOC Olympic Education Commission Member, Laurent Petrynka spoke about the importance of celebrating this day: "The spirit of Olympic Day reminds us of the importance to unite the Olympic Movement and schools through the common goal of education. Using sport we hope to engage youth in Olympic Values, and help them develop into future responsible citizens of the world."
