Today, March 21, the International School Sport Federation would like to raise awareness of equality in school sport on the World Down Syndrome Day.
The ISF, with the mission of education through sports, has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Special Olympics International to promote the equality and true spirit of sportsmanship. By this commitment, the ISF shows its support for people with intellectual disabilities to encourage them to participate in sport events and competitions. It is also a strong action of the ISF together with the European Commission to against the racism and discrimination in sport in the framework of European Week Against Racism.
The ISF is proud of giving an unanimous support to the Special Olympics International to organised events and programs involving the intellectual disability, including people with Down syndrome. Most recently, the ISF WSC Educational Games 2015 had participation of athletes with Down syndrome. It conveyed the message of acceptance and joy by enabling more students with intellectual disability to experience the benefit of sports regardless of their ability level.
