Buenos Aires, October 11 - New member of ISF School Sport Federation of Argentina - Federacion Argentina de Deporte Escolar (FADE) - has been a key player in representing School Sport and education at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
After the 2018 Executive Committee meeting in Rio, Brazil, Argentina has been officially accepted and confirmed as an ISF member. Its membership is crucial for the School Sport development across the South America, and beyond, as FADE represents a strong and essential member for the growth of ISF.
FADE has been present at the III Summer Youth Olympic Games hosted by Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires (6-18 October 2018), and ran a working session, which included the ISF president Mr Laurent Petrynka, to discuss the future development and FADE's integration within the ISF.
FADE embraced the opportunity of Youth Olympic Games to articulate, together with other National Sport Federations, common strategies to develop sports in Argentinian schools (bring sports to school) and to discuss selection process of schools/students for the international events.
With Argentinian Ministry of Education, FADE discussed strategy, at the international, national and provincial level (24 provinces in Argentina), to unify school sport practices, propose a common concept of school sport while also respecting every provinces' specificities.
In the following interview, the president of School Sport Federation of Argentina Mr Leo Troncoso explains the strategy on development and improvement of the federation:
"We are developing our strategic plan over the next 5 years. With this plan, we work with different commissions to develop and drive the federation at the national level. We are integrating the FADE within the agenda of the educative system. We work strongly with the two essential pillars of education and sport, and towards their fusion. There is still a long way to go but we have just started; our staff is young, full of energy, motivation and enthusiasm, and we try to bring the FADE at the highest level".
FADE is planning a strong involvement within the ISF in the next couple of years, including a possibility of taking over the organisation of ISF World School Championships and other events.
