Today, October 1, the official launch of the School Football Euro 2016 took place during a press conference at the Regional Council of Nord-Pas de Calais in France. This great event will take place next year from May 29 to June 5 in the cities of Lens and Lille where more than 1000 players from 45 nationalities are expected to come.
An event of these dimensions requires joint forces among several partners, and ISF is happy to announce its own contribution to this event and collaboration with others partners such as the National Union of School Sport (UNSS), Euro 2016 SAS, the French Football Federation (FFF), the French government, and local authorities. At today’s press conference, several representatives from these organisations also spoke to share their excitement for the upcoming tournament. Daniel Percheron, President of the Regional Council of Nord-Pas de Calais and Senator of the Pas-de-Calais department was one of them along with Laurent Petrynka, National Director of UNSS and President of ISF. The President of the UEFA EURO 2016 Organising Committee, Jacques Lambert and Luc Johann, Commissioner of Education Lille Chancelier des Universités also contributed to the list of speakers at the press conference.
In addition to all the matches that will take place during the School Football Euro 2016, 90 matches for boys and 45 for girls, the tournament will have an educational aspect as well inviting more than 300 young UNSS referees to officiate during the tournament. This is also one of the reasons why ISF is delighted to take part in this event, as it without doubt perfectly falls in line with the ISF philosophy of education through sport.
