Next month, Olbia will become a harbour of school sport, as the ISF Seminar 2017 will take place in this Italian city from 10th to 16th of October. Several events will occur during this convention – ISF Technical Commissions seminar, ISF event organisers 2018-2019 meeting, the ISF Executive Committee and as the peak of the event, the host of the Gymnasiade 2020 will be announced.
Organised in coopeation with MIUR, the ISF Technical Commissions seminar will gather sport experts involved in the different Technical Commissions to discuss and shape the future of the ISF sport events format. For the first time, representatives of International Sports Federations, such as FIVB, FIFA, IHF, FIBA, FIS, IOF, BWF, FIG, IAAF will be present to provide important insight to the issues matters. Their presence is a result of the previous cooperation and relations reinforcement, which was one of the goals of ISF so far as it believes partnership with the main International Sport Federations is an important step in the development of the ISF Vision 2030 for promoting sports development among young people from schools and enhancing the sport programme of ISF events.
During the seminar, important guest speakers from Olympic Channel, European Commission and experts from anti-doping, nutrition and education programmes will make their appearance to deliver presentations for more than 200 school sport representatives coming from all over the world.
On the 13th of October, ISF Executive Committee will gather the elected members of ISF to discuss the ISF policy and projects development and to evaluate the past six months activities and events in 2017. This meeting will be crucial for the 2018 ISF season starting on February.
The summit of the ISF 2017 seminar will be the Gymnasiade 2020 topic as the host of this major international school sport event will be announced. While the whole school sport network is getting ready for the historically 1st Winter Gymnasiade taking place in Grenoble, France, from the 5th to 10th of February 2018, followed by the 17th Summer Gymnasiade held from 2nd to 9th of May 2018 in Rabat, Morocco, the first African country to ever host this event, the city of Jinjiang (China), Taoyuan (Chinese Taipei) and Budapest (Hungary) are raising the bar in the competition to host the Gymnasiade 2020 (Schools Summer Games) two years later.
The Gymnasiade is an international multi-sport event gathering 4000 young people from all around the world not only to compete with each other in multiple disciplines but mainly to share and enhance the main values of ISF based on belief that sport is a prevailing tool for the promotion of mutual understanding, peace and tolerance and can greatly contribute to the physical, social and intellectual development of youngsters.
