On February 3, the ISF President Mr. Laurent Petrynka, accompanied by Mr. Hrvoje Custonja, National Director of the Croatian School Sport Federation and ISF Executive Committee member and Mr. Josip Kosutic, President of the ISF Futsal Technical Commission, met the FIFA Deputy Secretary General of Football, Mr. Zvonimir Boban, at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich.
The meeting was organised in the framework of the ISF vision to enhance and further develop its relationships with International Sports Federations.
The main topic on the table was the way in which the ISF and FIFA can cooperate during the events organised by both organisations, especially for what concerns educational and development issues, starting from the ISF World Schools Championship taking place in Prague (Czech Republic) on May 21-29, 2017.
Notably, the discussion aimed for the draft of an agreement concerning the development of football in schools; such agreement shall be based on three main points: firstly, the creation of a shared educational programme and of a pedagogical toolkit related to football, to be distributed in schools all over the world by National Football Associations (FIFA members) and National School Sport Organisations (ISF members). Secondly, the formal recognition and support of the ISF Football WSC by FIFA both in terms of human and financial resources. Finally, the creation of a new event targeting children aged 11 to 13, to be held every two years, alternative with the ISF WSC with the goal of fostering the development of football through school sport.
Mr. Petrynka, at the end of the meeting expressed his satisfaction for this first encounter: "Based on the two cornerstones of education and development, this agreement would represent an important leap forward in the cooperation between the two organisations. It would help raising the level of the ISF Football events and definitely mark an important step in the achievement of a vision that we share with FIFA: the education of our young people through sport. We look forward to developing this fruitful cooperation."
