From 9th till 12th February last, Robson Aguiar, Continental President ISF America and Jan Coolen, ISF Secretary General took part in the assemblies of CID and CADE in San Juan, Puerto Rico organised by DRD, the Department of Recreation and Sport.
The ISF wishes to express its sincere thanks to the Secretary of Sport, Ramon Orta, for the invitation to attend these meetings.
CID (Ibero-American Sports Council) and CADE (American Sports Council) bring together the Ministries of Sport and other official actors of sport on the American continent. Also school sport is one of the topics on the agenda.
The ISF got the chance to present some of its future activities planned on the continent, such as ISF Baseball 2015 in Dominican Republic and the III Pan-American School Games 2016 and Waterpolo 2016 under the aegis of the ISF, both in Puerto Rico.
Several countries present expressed their intention to participate in these events.
On the occasion of the meetings the ISF representatives took also the opportunity to promote ISF membership.
Costa Rica and Jamaica showed interest in becoming a member, Panama confirmed its wish to renew its membership and USA through AAU (Amateur Athletic Union, one of the largest non-profit volunteer multi-sport organisations in the United States) handed over its membership application form.
On the occasion of these meetings the ISF representatives met Freddie Sanchez, former ISF Continental Vice-President for America and actually ISF honorary member.
Together they made on 13th March the first protocol visit in Mayaguez, location of the III Pan-American School Games 2016.
Next to the inspection of the high level sports venues, a meeting was held to discuss the final dates, the sports on the programme and general organisational topics. Soon the definitive contract will be signed to be confirmed at the next Executive Committee in Qatar.
