Trabzon – The first day of Gymnasiade 2016 is on. The Karate game has already started, but most of the disciplines are having a training day. The athletes have a chance to try the stadium’s fields, floors and tools to do their last runs and exercises before the competition. Yomra Arena is occupied till early morning.
Onur, 16 years old athlete from Turkey, has started with gymnastics when he was 9 years old and tomorrow he will be performing exercise on pommel horse. He has been in the training hall since morning and as he admits, he doesn’t plan to take any rest: „I train hard today. I want to be ready as much as I can.“
Just next to the athletes doing their pommel horse training, Ghicius, 15 years old artistic gymnast from Romania trains her vault exercise. “I started artistic gymnastics when I was 6 and I’m really happy to be a part of the Gymnasiade,” says Ghicius and adds: “We’ve already trained for 2 hours today, but we still have a work to do.”
All the athletes seem determined and loaded with energy and it looks like the Yomra training hall will be busy till the evening.
