From 9th to 13th July 2017, an ISF evaluation team, consisting of President Laurent Petrynka, Deputy President Stelios Daskalakis, Continental President Europe Nicos Megalemos, Secretary General Jan Coolen and Sports Director Nobert Kever, conducted a field assessment in Jinjiang, China- the candidate city for the 18th Gymnasiade.
During the field assessment, the team has been briefed with a presentation of the city and the ISF delegation visited and assessed the main places of the bidding city.
During this evaluation, officials from Chinese Ministry of Education, Governor and Deputy Governor of Fujian Province, Secretary and Mayor of Jinjiang city, and other officials from various departments, fully participated in the briefing and field assessment.
Concept & Vision
In the bidding for the 18th Gymnasiade, Jinjiang proposed the concept of "Vitality, Integration, Growth and Sustainability" and the slogan of “Better Us, Better Future”.
Jinjiang plans to have 11 competition sports: 5 compulsory sports of Athletics, Swimming and Gymnastics (Artistic, Rhythmic and Aerobics), 2 optional sports of Tennis and Chess, and 4 additional sports of Basketball, Football, Table Tennis, and Combat Sports. The final sport programme will need to be discussed with the ISF.
There are 39 venues in total, including 23 competition venues and 16 training venues, divided in three concentrated clusters. 61.54% of them are located in schools, while 38.46% are public facilities.
Catering & Accommodation
The preliminary plan of Jianjing is to use safe, easy-accessible, well-equipped hotels, ensuring accommodation and catering for Gymnasiade.
Jinjiang International Airport, is 40 minutes to Xiamen International Airport, and 2 hours to Fuzhou International Airport. Multiple international flights are available in these three airports.
Safety & Security
A special security department will be set up with officials, police officers and professional technicians chosen by the Chinese Ministry of National Security, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, Fujian Provincial Public Security Bureau and Jinjiang City Public Security Bureau, to ensure the safety and security of the 2020 Jinjiang Gymnasiade.
Medical Care System
Jinjiang has nine tertiary hospitals of first aid system. Each hotel for delegation and each venue is equipped with modern communication and first aid equipment.
The urban area of Jinjiang is surrounded by greens and rivers. Jinjiang’s drinking water is in full compliance with the standards of WHO.
Communication, Media & Language Service
Jinjiang has full coverage of 4G telecommunication, provides high speed optical fiber network and Wi-Fi services and showcased multiple language services for translation.
The ISF officials will visit the second Gymnasiade 2020 candidate - Chinese Taipei, from 17th to 22nd August.
