Musanze, August 19 - More than 2000 athletes participated at the 17th edition of the East Africa School Games, held in Rwanda and organised by the Federation of East African Secondary School Sport Associations (FEASSSA).
International School Sport Federation was officially represented with the presence of Mr Souleymane Kone (Cote d'Ivoire), the ISF Executive Committee member (Assessor).
More than 2000 scholars travelled to Musanze, Rwanda, to represent their country, and their school, in one of the 13 different sport disciplines held.
Mr Justus Mugisha, the president of FEASSSA and the School Sport Federation of Uganda, said the games have been successful beyond their expectations, and thanked the organisers and participants for raising the bar in terms of organisation, sportsmanship and hospitality.
On Friday, August 18, FEASSSA also held the Executive Committee meeting where the members approved the format of the 2018 East Africa School Games can be re-used in the future editions of the games, and added a separate competition for the pupils with disabilities (for the first time being held next year). Other resolutions include more control over the competition and the participants' eligibility, hosting rights for 2019, members' affiliation, sponsorship and more.
